Maintenance-free movement for an innovative media supply system
Fly One is a multifunctional media system developed by Hohenloher in the form of a designer ceiling light. It can be unfolded at the touch of a button to supply media such as electricity, data, gas or compressed air. The drive mechanism uses igus plastic components that ensure quiet, maintenance-free operation. Since conventional construction elements were not satisfactory, the designers were also looking for individual components that could be easily printed in 3D at igus.

Ergonomic office chair with quiet and lubrication-free bearings
The designers at Nowy Styl were looking for a bearing that would not make any noise when adjusting and using their ergonomic office chair. They also wanted to do without lubricants to avoid contamination and maintenance costs. The metallic bearings, including needle roller bearings, previously used in this chair were also custom-made and very costly to manufacture. There is a wide variety of plain bearings made of the materials iglidur G and iglidur J. They are cost-effective, robust, quiet and maintenance-free.

V-Zug AG in Switzerland produces high-quality household appliances that are particularly durable and reliable. In order to achieve the perfect feel for a rotary knob, the developers were looking for an optimal material for the bearing. Brass bearings were out of the question due to their electrical conductivity, and ceramic bearings could not be used either due to their high cost. The solution: iglidur bushings made of the special RN24 material are cost-effective and completely maintenance-free.

Rotating 150 kilograms on a cent piece
The innovative PortaPivot revolving doors work completely without door frames and can be swung open 360 degrees in both directions. In addition to adaptable gas pressure springs, two iglidur plain bearings inside the hinges ensure that only a small amount of force is required despite the doors' high dead weight. In tests previously performed by PortaPivot itself, the bearings exceeded expectations and easily withstood 248,000 cycles of 180° pivoting. The desire to eliminate service times was also fulfilled because, thanks to their dry operation, iglidur bearings are completely maintenance-free over their entire service life.
